What could be more Nova Scotian than a lighthouse?

Since the government of Canada has deemed over 500 lighthouses “surplus” these iconic structures have been under a death sentence. Two coastal communities Port Medway and Port Mouton have rallied together to acquire and preserve these historic landmarks.

The annual Lighthouse Awareness Show and Sale is held each August to raise funds for the support and maintenance of the lighthouses, but also to draw attention to the plight of these beacons of our Nova Scotia heritage.
