The Lighthouse Rally held on Saturday, September 13th proved a success as temperate sunny weather accompanied visitors to all six lighthouses. A large number of visitors arrived at the Medway Head lighthouse bearing their ‘passports’ with the other five locations already stamped. One person was on their way to Cape Breton, heard about the Rally on the radio and turned around to come back to Queens County and the lighthouses!
Medway Head saw people from nearby towns, from Halifax, from South Carolina, Rochester NY and Germany. Thanks to Robert Whitelaw for setting up historical displays both at Medway Head and Port Medway Lighthouse Park (in the Warehouse building).
A very large vote of thanks to organizer Cathie Pincombe for her hard work and planning. Along with a host of volunteers at the lighthouses, it proved a wonderful day.
The one comment that was repeated many times? ” I hope they do this again next year”
